The box summarises the US Labs21
case studies which are on this site. Although there are
obviously differences with UK conditions, the cases have
many interesting design features which have been, or could
be, applied here.
In addition to case studies, Labs21 US has published an
Energy Analysis (1.7MB)
document. This applies various energy-efficient strategies
to a generic laboratory under four different climate conditions.
One of these is the Pacific Northwest, which has similar
climatic conditions to the UK. The analysis can be used
to evaluate which energy-efficient measures would reap
the most benefits when applied to laboratories operating
under various conditions.
UK Case Studies
-University
of Glasgow's Biomedical and Cardiovascular Research centres
-University
of Glasgow's Institute of Comparative Medicine
-University
of Newcastle's Devonshire Building
We will be uploading case studies of other UK laboratories
shortly.
If your laboratory has exemplary energy performance or
innovative design features which help to improve environmental
performance we would like to hear from you. Please contact
